Come late February, Samuel Adams new Imperial Wee Heavy will be available! This new beer has deep intense flavors from dark roasted and smoked malts. In order to achieve the dark and yet sweet flavor of this brew, a peat smoked malt from Scotland is used. This beer will pair perfectly with roasted pork. More and more craft brewers are starting to make their beverages available in cans. Around 100 U.S. craft breweries distribute their beer in cans! Sometime in May Samuel Adams will have two new beers hit shelves! Katie Powell, the PR correspondent for Sam Adams said that the Summer Style Variety pack will include two new beers, Kolsch and Saison. The variety pack will be available May through July, and on Saison will be on draft!

While Michigan's unemployment rate is around 12 percent, breweries, microbreweries and brew pubs all over Michigan are expanding and doing renovations. The Michigan Brewers Guild has hit a record high number of members! One reason that this is possibly happening is because of the "buy local" movement that has hit the state.
