Love The Beer You Drink 12/30/2009
A little known fact of Miller Lite is that it is actually 42 years old. Created in New York’s Rheingold Brewery by Joseph Owades in 1967, Miller Lite was the first light beer to get it right. By 1973 our great nation had taken this All-American beer to heart with the aide of an advertising campaign that featured a series of professional athletes. This new and innovative approach to light beer broke the light beer’s immasculine stereotype and opened up the market to men and women. As the nation’s love of Miller Lite grew, sales nearly doubled by 1977 prompting other brewers to follow suit and create a light beer. The people called for Lite and Miller delivered to an eager audience, little has changed today. Miller Lite remains the Tastes Great, Less Filling beer with lower calories and 1/2 the carbs of the other "big branded" light beers. Miller Lite takes taste seriously. Does it work to take taste seriously? Well Miller Lite and it’s four World Beer Cup gold medals in the Light American-style Lager category speak for themselves. In fact Miller Lite is the only beer to take four gold’s in their category at the World Beer Cup, ever. This is an achievement that acts as a testament to Miller Lite’s dedication to consistently providing the nation with a fantastic light beer. Lite prides itself on it’s clean and crisp taste and it’s foam head which prevents the beer's oxidization and releases it’s aroma. Whether it’s the container for Lite, which has a special lining to eliminate the metallic twang of the can in the beer, or if it’s the process of brewing itself, Miller has fought to make it better. The process by which Miller Lite is brewed was attentively worked on by its Brew Masters. This low calorie Pilsner is brewed with pure soft water filtered by the Brew Master’s own process. In addition, through experimentation the Lite Brew Masters developed the Triple Hops Brewing process which makes Miller Lite’s flavoring so rich in quality. The Triple Hops Brewing process developed by Miller involves adding three varieties of one type of hops at three entirely separate times in the brewing process. The point of this Triple Brewing process is to better the taste, balance, and head of the beer in three steps. Lite is also involved in the communities it’s sold in, just recently Miller Lite sponsored Kevin Taylor’s world record of breaking 809 bricks (see video below) with his bare hands over the span of 100 yards. Lite also supports local innovation and unique thought processes, take for instance John Cornwell’s Beer-Launching Fridge (also seen below) which was inspired by his love of Miller Lite and distaste for getting off of the couch. Lite also looks at the big picture as well, donating to charities such as Operation Homefront which raises money for Military families in need of financial assistance. So we see the beer America loves, loves the nation as well. The second largest beer company of America remembers its origins and maintains its relationship with its community.
